Jason Kottke has been publishing annotated links since 1998, and the formula hasn't moved: one to three sentences of personal commentary, then the link. That's all, and it's enormous — every post is a point of view, not a summary. The design follows the same logic: body text in serif (who still dares that on a blog?), navigation cut down to six entries, a circular logo whose colours shift like a wink. The business model matches: a voluntary reader membership, running for years, with no pop-ups, no aggressive banners, not one dark pattern. Proof that a site can grow old without betraying itself.
